PistonHeads.com: Video: Plato's Perfect Powerslide

Fantastic save, kudos to Jason Plato's driving!
BTCC is just stupid and violent now, for example one name to toss out there - Giovarnardi...

giovinardi is a legend. jason plato is known as the most cheating driver in the btcc and was actualy banned for a season for dangerous driving not that long ago.

ADAM should have won this as he was nearly 4 seconds cl;ear of the rest of the field. the tap was only a very light one under braking into a very difficult corner due to Jason "cheating" plato braking far too early.

BTCC stopped being entertaining in 2001 when super touring regs where banned and these limp wristed S2000 cars where braught in.

i mean the primera BTCC car from 1999 was a £30m car! mid engined (behind the front wheels and now not allowed) the crank was just 2 inches from the floor, dry sump (not allowed), Individual throttle bodies and 8 injectors (not allowed) modified floor pan to accomodate large 19" centre lock wheels (not allowed, have to run 17" 5 stud wheels and stock arch inners) full sequential paddle shift gearboxes (not allowed, have to run stick shift style) homologation specification SR20 engine running smaller big end journals (not allowed) Billet H beam conrods (not allowed) forged slipper type pistons (nbot allowed) titanium and magnesium valve train (not allowed) Laser guided telemetry and computer controlled suspension (not allowed) revved to 9500rpm (limited to 8500rpm now) the judd built SR20DETbtcc engine was 335bhp at 9000rpm, the honda civic BTCC engine is 285bhp at 8200rpm
etc etc i can go on..

these cars are not that much of a development of a road car. the shells are seam welded with a roll cage, the engine is very well tuned and they have big brakes and slick tyres.. other than that they are fairly boring.

BRING BACK Super touring!
