Micra Sports Club Insurance Scheme With Chris Knott Insurance

    Hi to all!

This forum have been in discussion with ourselves about an insurance scheme for registered users on here. We are glad to say that we have signed the deal so I'd just like to introduce myself & our company!

Chris Knott Insurance - http://www.chrisknott.co.uk - have been involved with car clubs for over 20 years so hopefully we'll understand your needs & requirements!

The scheme is for both standard and modified cars with cosmetic changes and bhp increases by no more than 20bhp.

It starts for ages 22 and over for Comprehensive cover and 19+ for TPFT cover, and you must have at least 1 year's NCB – no introductory discounts are allowed.

All drivers must have held a full UK licence for at least 1 year, and to insure a 'performance' car, there must be at least 1 years experience of driving that, or similar bhp, car. Unfortunately, the scheme is not competitive on all M - Manchester, L - Liverpool, OL - Oldham & SK1-12 - Stockport postcodes, and excludes Northern Ireland.

No more than 1 SP/PC/PL conviction offence per driver.

The minimum premiums are £250 for Comprehensive & £200 for TPFT cover, so please don’t ring if your quote is less than this!

We consistently have a very high renewal retention rate meaning that people renew with us because of our constantly competitive insurance premiums & experienced, reliable customer and claims service. That is why we can promote this insurance scheme knowing that we are in it for the long term.

I'll view the site regularly and try to answer any queries that you have also.

In the meantime, please feel free to call the New Business Team when you receive your renewal through. A dedicated team, with years of experience, is waiting for your call! (I personally don't do the quotes).

0800 917 2274 or 01424 200477 (if phoning by mobile) & please don't forget to quote the reference found in my signature below and the club name!

    Welcome Tim.
I'll be asking for a Quote on my RS Turbo Powered MKII Orion....once I MOT it.

Do you offer any further discount for insuring 2 cars?

    Cheers.

Great stuff. You will get the discount on both cars but there isn't any additionally '2 car' discount I'm afraid.

Basically, the insurers have told us they have stated that, as a gentleman’s agreement, NI brokers can't insure GB customers and GB brokers can't insure NI customers! Just fair play, I suppose!

    Simple as that!

    Manchester, etc -

Unfortunately it's all to do with claims statistics.

An inordinately high number of claims come from these postcodes, simple as that. It's not a case of a few points higher but a much greater percentage than the norm.
The insurers did actually tinker with individual postcodes but it didn't work sadly. I suppose 'once bitten, twice shy'.

The scheme would just not exist if the insurers included these postcodes because of the losses that these have historically caused.

Well I ain't movin so guess I will be choosing another insurer for my renewal then!! It's a bit bad when you think about it though so many posh areas with a Manchester postcode with peeps driving peformance and ultra high spec cars you are missing out on big business because of a postcode

The insurers look it at slightly differently.

They may get 'high' premiums from these high spec cars but end up paying out 'higher' claims costs so it's a wiser decision not to insure them.

For example, take £2000 in premium but pay out £3000 in claims costs!

This has been consistently confirmed by their claims statasticians & actuaries.

Sorry to nit-pick, last point I promise LOL !

Have you informed the insurers that Northern Ireland is actually IN the UK?

Anyhoo like I said my last comment on the subject.

Can you do a PM service where you set out a tempate in this thread of the details you need, then we just copy and paste into a PM message and send it to you? Bit like a internet quote?

We did try this but it didn't work because we were so busy on the phones, callers would get priority which left emails at the bottom of the pile.

It wasn't a good service so we ditched it!

We now just encourage people to ring us only.

It's a strange thing but the claims stats show a high level of claims from peoplke with roll cages fitted.

However, the insurers are willing to look at each individual case but we can't promise anything.

I'm 25, passed my test in June 2006 and it's clean. I have 4 years NCB. I'm female and I'm a teacher. I'm not sure what's out there in terms of specialist teacher quotes, but there are several (I know Norwich Union do them). My insurance is due in January - how would a quote for me compare with specialist teacher quotes from other companies?

Think I can answer that one. If they could insure 17 year olds I don't think this would have been said.

The scheme starts for ages 21 and over for Comprehensive cover, & 19 and over for TPF&T cover. (However, we can also quote the 'market rate' to younger drivers).

    Tim,

I'm 19 in November, but not due for renewal for another 5 month.

Am I able to get a quote from you yet or do I need to wait until I'm 19, cheers.

Hoping I can get something better than £2,300 on a 1.0 Micra.. no crashes or anything against me.

I personally won't be back until Monday 5th January 2009.

    Thanks for the message.

Regarding the quote, could I ask you to ring the office please on 0800 917 2274 or 01580 752961 if calling from a mobile – Mon-Fri 9am till 5pm, Sat 9am till noon.
It’s just that I don’t actually do the quotes, as I spend a lot of my time travelling the country on business and work from home also.
We have a specialist team who should be able to help you based on the details you’ve stated.

    Thanks!

We've had a good start to 2009 already, even better than last year which was an exceptional year for us.

If you're renewal is due in February, please don't forget to ring us and quote the club scheme reference number shown in my signature below!

Is the scheme completely for over 19's, or can named drivers be under 19?
