I'm being thick

Please be gentle

I bought myself an engine stand today "Clarke CES 500A" and as a bit of kit I have no problems however I do have a question.... Where do I mount the engine exactly and what bolts do I use? I've read through the Haynes manual and that says to use the gearbox side but I don't have the gearbox bolts.

Also I got myself some decent Allen keys for the head bolts but I can't get them to shift, is there a trick to it?

Like the title says I'm being think

g/box bolts are m10 karl, but an m8 nut and bolt will suffice.
and you did buy an m10 allenkey "bit" ? (not a set of keys)

When i built my engine in my house i used the top 2 gearbox mounting holes, the front gearbox mounting hole and at the back when the bolt goes through from behind i just sat in a headbolt as its not threaded so you would need a nut/bolt.

you really are jumping in at the deepend mate  (piston changing, and turbo, ing bike carbs)

What a way to learn though! I learnt a huge amount by just dismantling and re-assembling vauxhall redtops. Wish I had the time and money to do this. Hope you have fun Karl

The funny thing is I went into machine mart to get the stand and hex bits but for some reason bought Allen key's (I need some anyway) got some hex bits now

I'm in no rush to do this so I'm going to be taking my time, I don't feel like I've jumped into the deep end, well not yet at least

Getting stuck in like you are is the best way to learn :grinning:

If you aren't sure about something, ask questions, there are plenty of people on here who know.
