Fuel filter and gearbox oil make a difference if they've not been changed. Grade of engine oil and added weight i.e. aircon, power steering, even the amount of fuel I used to find :P

That's nothin'. You drive a micra not a saxo, so it's not like it's going to break down

The cleaning fluid should work. Doubt you'd need to oil it though

I found the Mr clutch near me rather good. Took a polo there and was done quickly and they checked it 500 miles later to make sure all was well. Quoted me £220 for my mera but I'll be doing it myself. Providing you have the correct tools it's not too hard.

I've seen cars without the chrome so it must be do-able. Alternatively you could paint over them but that can scratch off easily

What a way to learn though! I learnt a huge amount by just dismantling and re-assembling vauxhall redtops. Wish I had the time and money to do this. Hope you have fun Karl
