Front Light Problems

iv just taken my front lights out today so that i cud fit my new front bumper, but when i came to put them back in with those odd holding clips that come with the lights i cudnt fix them back in. the clips just kept breaking, has any1 else had a problem with this or know how to avoid it? iv just put some bolts in their place for now.

what your ment to do with these clips is to use a flat headed screwdriver and turn them so the square bit matchs the square hole on the grill, i found when taking off my grill when putting it back in you have to use some force to make them click in properly or you could pull the bottom and find the grill will move
