Hi there, I have a nissan micra k11, W registered the revised front end

when i was driving home the other day in the dark i noticed that one headlight was brighter than the other. I got into the garage and had a delve.
I took a wire and wired the bulb to the battery. It still was dull. I tried various other bulbs that are bright in one side and are dull in the other. It is impossible that the bulb does not get brighter after hot wiring straight to the battery.

please help.

are you looking at the bulb or the projection? because your headlights might just need re calibrating...

have you wired the bulb directly to the battery without going through the standard plug? and have you tried it outside the headlight unit?

may just mean going to a scrappy and picking up a new light :)

good luck

Hi there. Thanx for replying.

I no i should hav posted this in the k11 section but i clicked on k12 instead (mistake)
well thats the thing i have tried wiring it straight to the battery outside the light unit and it is still dull.
I have also tried taking the bulb from the drivers side which is very good and putting it in the passengers side but for some reason it makes it dull.

I thought about getting a light form a scrappy but it must be the wiring as the bulb is dull outside the unit.

Looking closely at it you can see that the previous owner has had the same problem and they must have changed that side of the wiring cos the passenger side has a completely different connector from the original on the drivers lamp. I am completely stumped.

Cheers

Another thing how and where would i get the headlights re-calibrated. Would a normal garage do this such as charlie browns or the main dealer.

Cheers.

Most garages should be able to re-calibrate your headlights especially if they also do m.o.t.s. Should only cost pennies though as not much work involved.(2 min job)

Don't really think that you could d.i.y the calibration as you would need to know the exact spot where the beam needs to be.
